Into The Arctic: Snow, Setbacks and Northern Lights

The adventure continues, and what a few days it’s been for the convoy.

Day 7 – Slow progress towards Nordkapp

By Day 7, the convoy found themselves around 200 miles from Nordkapp. On paper, that might not sound too daunting. But this is no ordinary 200-mile stretch. The route winds through icy mountain roads that are as challenging as they are unpredictable.

Progress has been slower than hoped. Delays were always expected on a journey like this, but perhaps not quite this early on. Still, spirits remain high as the team carefully navigates the snow-covered terrain, determined to keep moving forward.

Day 9 – The great car parts scavenger hunt

By Day 9, a new challenge emerged, sourcing car parts to keep the convoy on the road. What followed was nothing short of a scavenger hunt across Scandinavia.

As you’ll see in the video, tracking down the right parts in remote, icy conditions is no easy task. Breakdowns are part of the adventure, but fixing them in freezing temperatures adds a whole new level of difficulty.

Day 13 – Beauty and the boarder

Day 13 brought a breathtaking reward. Waking up on the border between Finland and Sweden, the convoy was greeted with a stunning winter morning.

It’s been a tough stretch with breakdowns, delays, and vehicles stuck in deep snow. But moments like this make it all worthwhile. Snow-covered landscapes, crisp Arctic air, and even sightings of the Northern Lights have turned the struggle into something truly unforgettable.

Although the past few days have certainly tested both vehicles and drivers, the experience has been nothing short of incredible. The scenery, the camaraderie, and those magical Northern Lights are what this journey is all about.

Here’s hoping the Orange Defender and the rest of the convoy have a smoother next stage ahead. We’ll be cheering them on every mile of the way.
